Trauma therapy
(Re)build a life beyond the lived experience of trauma
In partnership with Plum Tree Memory Care, Medical Psychotherapy offers virtual psychotherapy for persons living with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), complex PTSD, and other trauma-related experiences. This psychotherapy is provided by Dr. Sean Robb, Clinical Neuropsychologist, and his team of Registered Psychotherapists with specialized training in treating trauma.
This treatment focuses on the well-recognized 3-stage treatment model:
Stabilization — How can we help our nervous system experience the feeling of safety? While our brain looks out for our best interests, sometimes it uses strategies that were effective in the past, but not as helpful today.
Reprocessing — What has our brain learned from past traumatic experiences? How does this shape how we react, respond to, and experience the world? This does not always mean retelling our story but reflecting on what learnings might have occurred given our past.
Building a life beyond trauma — How do we build meaning and value into our lives despite having lived through very challenging traumatic experiences? How do we close the chapter on trauma, never forgetting but being present now so we can begin new chapters? How do we build our sense of self and who we are? We can optimize and build important cognitive skills that may have been impacted by trauma.
Together with Medical Psychotherapy, we invite you on a journey to (re)build a life beyond the lived experience of trauma.
We work directly with WSIB and MVA insurance.
Our services are accepted by the majority of private insurance companies.
